I Didn't Believe You
When we arrived, you told me
As we waited on the bus
"The best week of your life is here."
I didn't believe you.

But at that one evening practice, you told me
As I staggered on the field
"It's better to sit out now."
I didn't believe you.

Afterwards, you told me
As I winced in pain
"I'm carrying you to the clinic."
I didn't believe you.

In the clinic you told me
As you handed me your own knee brace
"You're not going to march tomorrow."
I didn't believe you.

The next day, you told me
As I paced on the sideline
"Sit down; you'll be out for the rest of the week."
I didn't believe you.

That night, you told me
As you held me i
Too Late
You were too late
When you tried to undo
Everything that you said
After all we'd been through.

It was too late
By the time you came back,
After pushing me down
With your shocking attack.

A piece that won the "Reflections" art contest and was featured in a few galleries, including one featuring community artwork.

The meaning behind this is "Together We Can," in this case meaning the old generation and the new generation (the two hands) coming together to bring peace to the world.
